The Amelia Earhart Playhouse welcomes you to an evening of short plays and monologues on the following dates:

  • October 4-5, 8 at 7:30 p.m.
  • October 6 at 2 p.m.

Content Warning: The play, Horse Girls, contains mature and violent content performed by minors with parental permission and consenting adults. Please use your own judgement when bringing children.

The following productions are official entries into the 2024 U.S. Army IMCOM-E Entertainment One Act Play Competition and YouthFEST. To find out more about the festival, click here.

Monologues

Monologues will be performed by community members.

Horse Girls - Directed by Hannah Whittington

Synopsis

Twelve-year-old Ashleigh rules the Lady Jean Ladies, South Florida’s most exclusive horse club. News that her family’s stables are being sold and their horses killed for meat throws the Ladies into crisis in this dark comedy of middle school deception and lies. "Horse Girls" is a play about pre-teens: their obsessions, their insecurities and their desperate need to find a place in the world.

The Dear Departed - Directed by Camilla McGill

Synopsis

A clever dramatization of a famous Guy de Maupassant story about a man who pretended he was dead in order to see what his family thought about him. 

Cost

$15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students ages 13 and up, $10 for children ages 12 and under.
