- If your registration is joint, only the Sponsor can dispose of the POV unless a POA is given to the joint owner.
- If your vehicle is at a repair shop or a towing firm off post, you must ensure that you have paid all fees owed to them and inform them that the Auto Skills will be picking up the vehicle before we can tow it. Failure to do so may result in the firm refusing to release the vehicle and additional costs to you.
- Why is there a disposal fee? The disposal fee of $30 saves you the time and hassle of clearing U.S. and German customs, we do that for you.

Time to get rid of that old clunker? The Auto Skills Center will take that old car off your hands and make sure that it is properly disposed of. We will provide you with all the paperwork you need to clear vehicle registration. The $30 disposal fee saves you the time and hassle of clearing U.S. and German customs.
Important information for Hybrid or Battery Electric Vehicle Disposal:
IMCOM policy for electric and hybrid vehicles: The Army FMWR Automotive Skills operation cannot accept an EV/Hybrid if the vehicle has suffered damage that might have compromised the High Voltage System of the vehicle. This includes crashes, fire or water submersions, especially saltwater submersion.
Disposal fees for these vehicle types are between 750 and 1500 euros. Please contact us for more information.
If you have a POV that you no longer want or need, you can relinquish it through our POV Disposal Service. Even if it is inoperable, the Auto Skills Center can tow it in for disposal.
Vehicle Disposal Process
Step 1: Remove all personal property from vehicle.
Step 2: Ensure your vehicle has a valid registration—either Permanent or Non-Operational. If your registration is expired, you must first stop by Vehicle Registration to obtain a current registration. We cannot accept vehicle disposal if you have Temp Tags.
Step 3: Make sure NO Lien Exists on the vehicle, check your registration and ensure it states, “No Lien Holder”. If it states for example, “CONUS Lien” you will need to bring a lien release letter from the bank or the original title to the vehicle. If your spouse is listed on the registration as “Joint Ownership” they will need to be present to sign the paperwork as well.
Step 4: If your vehicle is drivable, stop by the Auto Skills with the vehicle and bring the below items inside to the front service counter.
Step 4b: If your vehicle requires towing, bring all of the above items minus the vehicle and license plates to the Auto Skills. You will complete step 5 and organize towing the vehicle to the Auto Skills. Towing is FREE for vehicles on post within the Wiesbaden footprint. Vehicles located off post are charged our regular towing fees and the donation fee.
Step 5: The staff will have you fill out AE Form 190-1Z and accept your payment for the disposal fee and any applicable towing fees and provide you with your paperwork needed to clear vehicle registration. NOTE: If your vehicle is being towed you will receive your disposal paperwork after the vehicle has been towed.
Step 6: Take your plates, registration and AE 190-1Z to vehicle registration to clear the vehicle. Return to the Auto Skills with the stamped cleared registration.
