Join the Army Libraries in commemorating the Centennial of World War I.

The Wiesbaden Library will host the following events:

  • Jan. 25 -- The real life of Sgt. York, presented by Lt. Col. Russell M. Spry. Medal-of-Honor recipient Sgt. Alvin Cullum York, born on Dec. 13, 1887, was one of the most highly decorated Soldiers of World War I.
  • Feb. 1 -- Movie screening of "Big Parade" -- clean-cut American hero John Gilbert plunges into World War I and captures some of the most emotionally shattering battle scenes ever filmed. This silent film from 1925 set the stage for all war films to follow. The movie screening will be shown in the Tony Bass Auditorium (across from the library) and is open to ages 16 and above.
  • Feb. 15 -- Encore presentation of the issues leading up to the outbreak of WWI, presented by Ronald Locklar, former adjunct professor of History at Pepperdine University.
