The Wiesbaden Sports and Fitness Center invites community members to participate in the September Hero Workout Of The Day on Sept. 25 starting at 10 a.m.

The Hero WOD includes:

  • 25 Thrusters
  • 50 Box Jumps
  • 75 Dead Lifts
  • 1.5 Mile Run
  • 75 Dead Lifts
  • 50 Box Jumps
  • 25 Thrusters

Organizers said the whole WOD can be modified to individual skill levels (including substituting exercises).

The Hero WOD honors Sgt. 1st Class Andrew Tarrant Weathers who was killed in Afghanistan during combat operations in September 2014. Weathers was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (A).

"I knew Andy only for three years while serving with him in 2nd Battalion 7th Special Forces Group," said Chief Warrant Officer 2 David Del Signore. "But during that short period, we became good friends through work and especially at the gym, where we first met. We attended the same off-post gym in Crestview, Fla., where him and I would come up with some of the most ridiculous anaerobic/HIIT style workouts. He was a man that truly knew no physical pain and an immensely focused individual. It did not matter what task he was ever handed, he would execute it to the best of his ability, which was always above the standard. He was a natural leader, a son, a brother, and an amazing friend … and he is always missed."
